General Manager, Metropolitan Touring Peru

In addition to being flexible, responding in a timely manner and being extremely reliable in creating tailor-made journeys, the team at Metropolitan Touring Peru has implemented four main principles in response to the current market conditions, to make it easier for travel advisor partners to work with them, while creating enhanced experiences for your clients. These are to:

RETHINK new ways to slow down travel and allow your clients to spend more time in one place valuing quality over quantity, with less hassle and more experiences in a specific location.

REDESIGN new experiences to fit the needs of the current traveler, such as outdoor activities like camping, private accommodations, and road trips, plus new destinations with authentic experiences and less crowded environments.

TRANSFORM their operations team and supply chains, which have adapted to the necessary health and safety protocols implemented throughout their organization and the client’s itinerary. Examples of this include Metropolitan Touring Peru being awarded the WTTC Safety Stamp, in addition to their new travel app for your clients, an advisor portal and a customer extranet.

BOOST their ability to respond to real-time customer feedback, so they listen and take action as swiftly as possible.

Much more than just Cusco and Machu Picchu, it is Metropolitan Touring's goal to help you discover the multitude of additional experiences Peru can offer your clients that provide fabulous opportunities to meet, integrate with and support local communities.

Peru is a country rich in biodiversity and gastronomy, but also in culture. Every destination has its own customs, colors, and views. Visiting Peru is like visiting several countries all in one journey, it is an enriching experience your clients will not want to miss.

In order to showcase their cultural and immersive experiences, the Metropolitan Touring team created a special catalog called 'Q'uwaku'; within its pages you will find experiences specific to each destination including Cusco, Puno, and Arequipa, along with details on musical experiences and festivals. Extremely important to the Metropolitan Touring team, the 'Q'uwaku' program also allows them to work directly with local communities and help them keep the traditions alive that they have been following for centuries. Below we have highlighted three 'Q'uwaku' experiences for you to consider for your clients:

Misminay Community   Lamay Farm & Food   Afro Peruvian Journey

Misminay Community: While at Misminay your clients can walk around their fields with a knowledgeable local who will explain about the different crops and their ancestral techniques.

Lamay Farm and Food: The breadbasket of the powerful Inca Empire, the Sacred Valley has always been recognized by its vast agricultural resources and biodiversity. In this adventure, your clients will learn about their produce and put it into practice with a fun cooking class.

Afro Peruvian Journey: Embark on a 60-minute journey across the history of afro-Peruvian culture through the different musical instruments from the coast region: Peruvian cajon, quijada o jawbone, cajita o little box and checo, and maybe even dare to try some of the “festejo” energetic moves.

1. That you can take a cruise along the Amazon River and navigate it with all comforts of a 5-star hotel.

2. Not only does Peru have beautiful beaches and bio-diverse rainforests; they also have impressive snow-covered peaks you can climb in Huaraz.

3. The Kuelap fortress in Chachapoyas has walls that are as high as the great wall of China.

4. The Gocta waterfalls, also in Chachapoyas, ranks as the 3rd highest waterfall in the world.

5. The Colca Canyon in Arequipa is twice as deep as the Grand Canyon.
