Dear *|FIRSTNAME|*, An advisor's view of our trip to Peru.

      Just Back: Peru with
Metropolitan Touring

Dear *|FIRSTNAME|*,

This past November, Waterstone escorted a group of wonderful travel advisors to Peru where they experienced the fantastic in-country services of Metropolitan Touring Peru. With all advisors being first-time visitors to the country, Metropolitan Touring carefully curated an itinerary that perfectly introduced the wonders of Peru and left advisors wanting to return.

A luxury travel advisor and concierge at Ovations Travel Group in New York City, Limor Decter (pictured here left with Waterstone escort Grace Partridge to her right) kindly detailed her experience with Metropolitan Touring. She has shared an overview of the trip's highlights, culinary experiences and memorable moments in addition to listing Metropolitan's useful resources. Thank you, Limor!

"Our group was a really terrific mix of people and the trip was really quite unique. Metropolitan Touring curated a fabulous nine day itinerary with the same level of service and attention to detail that I expect for my high end clients."

— Limor Decter

See below a quick snapshot of our incredible trip to Peru with Metropolitan Touring.

"Peru is truly a foodie destination and the culinary scene is bursting with flavor. The influence of the Spanish, African, Chinese and Moorish cultures creates a fusion of succulent flavors at each meal.

Dinner at the Country Club Lima Hotel was a fantastic introduction to Peruvian  cuisine - the  ceviche was outstanding and we learned how to make their famous Pisco Sour drink. I really liked the combination of Pisco liquor, key lime and simple syrup as a refreshing cocktail.

One of our best meals was at the UNU farm restaurant (pictured right) which sat unassumingly in the middle of the rural countryside near the Maras salt flats. Surrounded by snowcapped mountains, this restaurant's intimate atmosphere complimented its fine food.

We enjoyed a fantastic lunch at the Belmond Rio Segrado. With the Urubamba river flowing next to us and Alpacas happily frolicking around us, the setting was quite magical.

In Aguas Calientes we ate a delicious dinner in our own private dining room at Sumaq Machu Picchu. The haute cuisine, served in a warm ambiance surrounded by Andean art and decor, made this meal especially memorable. Their presentation here was also beautifully done, with ceviche served on a steaming hot stone being the extra 'wow' factor.

Metropolitan Touring is of course happy to make arrangements for your clients at any of these restaurants. View a list of their recommended restaurants across Peru here.
"While the trip in its entirety was made special by Metropolitan Touring, there were a few moments that made traveling with their team extra-memorable. They include:

» Pulling our bus over so that we could try "Chocolo" (Peruvian corn with large kernels) from a small stand on the side of the road.

» Learning about the traditional weaving techniques from the native women at Centro Textil URPI in Chinchero. The weaving, spinning and knitting lesson they set up was delivered with a great sense of humor by the weavers.

» Touring with our guide Jose who was both interesting and personable. His passion for the destination was palpable and his knowledge of the history and culture of Peru certainly enhanced our experience.

» Participating in sustainable travel practices. For example, the Metropolitan team presented each of us with our own personal water bottles upon arrival, offering to fill them up with purified water throughout the trip so that we would not use single use plastic bottles.

» An impromptu stop at one of the many ‘local bars’ in Urubamba (which were really just small houses on the side of the road) to enjoy "Chicha" – an ancient Peruvian beer brewed with corn that’s chewed up and spit out."
